Pastel Expressions

Artist Statement

My art is inspired by the beauty and power of the landscape and creative energy of fellow artists, which are plentiful all around me as a washashore on Cape Cod, reflecting on the effects of my heritage on my world view, and recently by vivid memories of warm winter sojourns to Puerto Rico and Mexico. I have explored a variety of mediums, but I am especially drawn to the vibrancy and immediacy of working with pastel. Using soft pastel on sanded papers or textured boards and acrylic or watercolor underpaintings, I strive to show a range of effects and emotions through my art. Inspiration in these turbulent times comes from an undying belief in our will to survive and prevail and to use my art as a means of expression.
